DOCTOR
Stanley Shrew
Head of the facility. A man who is caught between the dark ages of psychiatry and a more modern approach. He is dedicated to his work to the extent that he views all human interaction - whether it's with his patients, colleagues, or even his family - as a psychological experiment.

DOCTOR
William Archer
A younger breed of psychiatrist, he arrives after four years serving in the military during WWII and fresh out of medical school, eager to tackle the challenges of mental health treatment in a new, innovative, and humane manner. He will frequently butt heads with Dr. Shrew; and, as the years pass, find it increasingly difficult to hang on to his idealism.

nurse
Mary McKay
A tough, no-nonsense matron who has the unenviable task of actually dealing with the blood, sweat, shit, and tears of the patients on a daily basis. She is an immigrant from Ireland and despite her position at the hospital, holds to the Old Ways – folk magic, herbal remedies, and a dose of demonology, which she employs behind the scenes when she deems it necessary.

nurse
Leah Strange
Young and new to the facility. She will have a love/hate relationship with Nurse McKay – and with Dr. Archer.

Orderly
Jim Jacks
His huge size and strength belie his sensitivity and whose lack of formal education does not stop him from possessing a penetrating, if folksy, wisdom.

Groundskeeper
Lafitte
He is Ezer's long-standing groundskeeper. While staff and patients come and go, Lafitte is always there, keeping a watchful eye on the premises - especially, the cemetery, where strange and inexplicable things happen with regularity.
